Dnipro is a leading business, industrial, scientific and cultural center of South-Eastern Ukraine. In the modern information space, the city of Dnipro has gained recognition as an outpost of Ukrainian patriotism.
Enterprises of the Dnipro printing industry in general and Dnipropetrovsk region in particular play an important role in the development of society and economy of the country and the region, as they are direct implementers of the basic provisions of information policy and promote business activity. They have a number of functions, including maintaining the level of satisfaction of information, cultural, educational, professional needs of citizens, enterprises, institutions, organizations, as well as increasing the educational, informational, cultural potential of society. In addition, printing companies and their activities are designed to support the concept of an open society, strengthen national traditions and carry out cross-cultural exchange. The market of printing products in Dnipro is one of the most important in the region’s economy and is dynamically developing, the share of enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity is increasing.
However, recent years under the influence of objective factors (military action in the East, the spread of COVID-19, lack of highly qualified personnel, growing demand for digital technologies and the transition from printed to digital media) have worsened the position of most regional enterprises in foreign and foreign domestic market, unwillingness of business leaders to change, losing market share to electronic means, which, accordingly, led to the instability of the industry and the need for new modern approaches to increase the competitiveness of business players. Given the changes in the external environment, the crisis in the economy, changes in the paradigm of society in the electronic field, strengthening European integration, when it is necessary to accumulate strategic potential, form new solutions in the domestic market, and find and occupy a niche in highly competitive European and international environment. increasing the competitiveness of printing companies, the formation of opportunities for their development is acute and requires the development of a number of cluster initiatives.
Nowadays, the cluster approach is one of the most promising organizational and management technologies, which is based on the widest possible use of equipment, human resources, technological and intellectual potential of spacious development. A characteristic feature of the NGO “Cluster of printing industry, publishing houses and digital technologies: logistics, service, quality” established in Dnipropetrovsk in 2020 is its innovative orientation as the most important incentive for the development of an individual region and the country as a whole. During the implementation of the cluster approach in the regional economy the following key points are consolidated: the general goal and legal basis for joint activities of the subjects; developed mechanisms of interaction between the subjects, which are combined in the cluster; management mechanism and compliance with the declared joint goals. Thus, the activity of the “Cluster of printing industry, publishing houses and digital technologies: Logistic, Service, Quality” will contribute to the development of partnership of stakeholders, will increase their competitiveness and stimulate innovation activities of regional business.
One of the key tasks of the cluster is the creation of the Innovative and Industrial Center “Professional Alternative Dnipro” within the framework of the program «EU4Business: SME Competitiveness and Internationalisation” with co-financing of the European Union and the German government through the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Ukraine) GmbH.
